Here There Everywhere- The Aviators Review

By Tony | Wednesday, 7 October | 4 Comments

This month’s CD is from our good friends ‘The Aviators’ from their new EP ‘Here, There, Everywhere’. I found this album to be quite interesting because it hits me as a very Territory type of album and I can’t figure out why.

Here There Everywhere is their first album and has been a long time in the making. Featuring eight songs, including local favourite Your Blues as intended and a bonus remixed track, it was worth the wait.

500 Days of Summer

500 Days of Summer

Not chronological, not mutual, not a love story. Greeted by the enticing musings of Regina Spektor’s ‘Us’, the opening credits introduce various stages of the childhoods of Tom Hanson and Summer Finn, played by two of the most visually compatible and contrastingly quirky actors that the likes of romantic comedies have ever seen, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschannel.

I’m sick of Pixar. They make me sick to my stomach. So darn good at everything they do. Even their ‘bad’ movies are high grossing and I can barely shave my face without cutting my elbow. Yeah, my elbow. It’s a well known fact now that Pixar staff exhale excellence and eat awesome.

Albert and Victoria’s love story is beautiful, and the visually stunning film is a must see for anyone interested in romance or history.

You’ve all heard about the craze, so I’m not going to talk too much about it, but the world really has gone micro-blogging manic. 2009 is the year that Twitter has taken off. Now, almost everyone is on it. You, your friends, even – though you cringe to think about it – your family. And sure, there are heaps of pros to the site, networking mainly, as well as letting people know what you’re up to. You can even stalk celebrities.

My overall thought of the film was “thumbs up” and will be looking forward to the very final showdown between Lord Voldermort and Harry Potter, and the hidden romances between the characters.

The songs blew me away, especially the acoustic. I cried while listening to the acoustic version of ‘Little Sister.’ My soul was moved by the lyrics and I could relate a lot with ‘Would You Believe’. ‘Open Your Eyes’ is one powerful song with words so true.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight

By Joffries | Thursday, 25 June | 2 Comments

The Dark Knight tends towards a darker side of its flamboyant comic book days and the TV exploits of Adam West, and is more of thriller than an action film as the audience will be at the edge of their seats trying to figure out what will happen next.
