Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner. We all know what Christmas represents- the birth of Jesus Christ, the saviour and son of the God of Christians. But why is it that now a jolly overweight man dressed in red gives out presents to children? Or that we dress evergreen trees up? Sounds like its time to read a GRIND article.

I’ve done it. I’ve jumped, wait – make that desperately leapt, on to the Apple band wagon.

Before anything is said on the topic of vegetables, I feel that I must get some things straight. I did not become a vegetarian for ethical reasons, despite thinking that it is a very noble cause. I became vegetarian for health reasons. As such, this article will contain no protests to eating meat, no cute pictures of baby animals and no pushy conversion arguments.

For some, genetic engineering is a strong topic. Whether you are for or against it, it has clear advantages and disadvantages, and can instil strong feelings for both sides. For everyone else, there’s confusion, protests, spin and large corporations all muscling in to influence us.

Every year an array of musicians, dancers, actors and visual artists from around the globe make their way to the Top End and this year we are in for a real treat.

Are you about to finish high school? Have you already finished and are pursuing the option of a gap year? Do you plan to go to university? Can you afford it? I would say probably not.

Micro-blogging and other things of that tiny nature…

You’ve all heard about the craze, so I’m not going to talk too much about it, but the world really has gone micro-blogging manic. 2009 is the year that Twitter has taken off. Now, almost everyone is on it. You, your friends, even – though you cringe to think about it – your family. And sure, there are heaps of pros to the site, networking mainly, as well as letting people know what you’re up to. You can even stalk celebrities.

Should we blame it on the sunshine? The moonlight? The good times? Or the heart failure?

Should we blame it on the sunshine? The moonlight? The good times? Or the heart failure?

June 25th will be remembered for a long time as “the day we said goodbye”. On June 25th, the world lost a man who was best known as “the king of pop” and rightly so.
