City of Darwin’s National Youth Week: Youth HubNYW2009 white

At the heart of the City of Darwin’s 2013 National Youth Week celebration is the Youth Hub – a program of arts, cultural and recreational activities for young people by young people. It showcases the talents and interests of young people in Darwin and aims to provide significant opportunities for young people to develop and present their ideas through a variety of activities and forums.

The Youth Hub will see the Darwin Entertainment Centre transformed into a colourful, vibrant and engaging hive of activity for the period 10 – 13 April 2013. The foyer, gallery, outdoor stage and studio will be a buzz with activities including dance classes, burlesque performances, a fashion parade, one on one theatre performances, chill out areas and a diverse range of music to suit all tastes.

As part of the program we are excited to include a variety of work by young artists and other artists creating work for young people. These projects could be:

• Music performances
• Visual arts workshops
• Movement classes
• Exhibition of existing work
• Pop up performances

If you are keen to be part of shaping this exciting event, we encourage you to apply!
Let your application be as creative, dynamic, original and as interactive as you like and let your imagination run wild!

Each selected project will be provided with a venue, technical equipment and staff, a front of house team, a small artist fee, access to resources and inclusion in the Youth Hub program.cityofdarwinlogo

Application will then be curated by our City of Darwin Youth Events Coordinators, who are a team of young people aged 15– 25 years who will help to shape the program, design and marketing, as well as organise and plan how the event will run. Each member of the Youth Event Coordination group will be mentored by an industry professional that will provide support throughout the program.

If you are interested in applying please click here and fill out the form.

Application close on 11th of March, 2013.
