The reason that they sparkle is because the writer was creating her version of a vampires ability to attract their pray, so the sparkling is just another way to feed on humans. They also go through a massive change when they die to become beautiful after the three days of change that they go through, they then become beautiful, sparkly and they have a very attractive smell. its just how she created the predators that she wanted… as long as other people like it I don’t see why the movie, the books or Meyer should be put down for being unique in ideas. I think being different is a good thing and should be rewarded not put down, so good for you Meyer, for being different, its obviously a good book or no one would read it or write good reviews about it.

Regarding comments
Hi GRINDers – it’s great that debate is happening. However could we please keep the comments concerned with the quality or lack thereof of the book/movie/music and not in regards to those people who may or may not enjoy the book/movie/music. Cheers

There are SO many things wrong with twilight on SO MANY LEVELS !

Firstly.. this book is completely sexist. I’m not usual one to.. Well, care frankly, but this book is appauling! It presents a completely moronic female protagnoist who can’t seem to do one thing without a boy coming to her rescue. There are so many examples in the series that it’s hard to ignore; Bella gives up her dreams and plans for college to get married to Edward, nearly every single female character in the book is protrayed as hopelessly negative.

And it gets worse. As soon as Edward leaves, what happens? She morphs into a complete zombie, totally lost without him, even suicidal. What sort of image is this giving to the books (general) female teenage audience? That without your boyfriend you should become an emotionless zombie mopping around lost ? That reckless self-endangerment is okay? Great example you’re setting here Meyer…

this book just makes me SO ANGRY !

Like, cmon.
Edward.
Don’t get me STARTED ON EDWARD.
He’s soo hot. He’s so dreamy. He’s amazing.
And you know how we know ? Because Meyer doesn’t go two whole pages without mentioning it !
Not to mention, if he wasn’t super hot, his extremely stalker-like activities would never be approved of.. I mean imagine if you woke up and some guy was just chillin in your bedroom. Fair enough if he’s super hot, it’s like ‘..hey.’
but if he was like a NORMAL, REAL VAMPIRE, I think the reaction may be more like ‘”!@#)38!*( !!!!!

I’m not even going to get started on this properly.

Meyer.. Get a dictionary or something, I SWEAR to God that I’ve read more descriptive prose from 5th Graders then this dribble.

(this whole rant may sound like the million other rants out there, probably because I’ve read all them.. AND BECAUSE IT’S ALL TRUE.)

Meyer’s books are a poor excuse for fiction they are really nothing amazing or literary masterpieces. I think the OBSESSION over Twilight is frankly concerning.

I’m sure it’s lovely for what it is – but I abhor people saying what an amazing piece of writing amazement it is. It really isn’t, and the movie is awful.

Also, sparkling in the sunlight. Really? Really??
