Earthsea

This movie is based on the Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula K. Le Guin and was directed by Goro Miyazaki who is the son of the famous Hayao Miyazaki.

Don’t know the name ‘Hayao Miyazaki’? Remember the anime movie Spirited Away? He’s the one who’s responsible for it. For those who have an extreme dislike for the movie Spirited Away because you’ve had to suffer the movie over and over again in English classes, blame your teachers and not the movie itself.

EarthseaBack onto topic however… The movie summary of EarthSea is your typical fantasy plot line with the world falling into darkness and no one know-ing what to do about it. The characters in the movie include the Prince Arren, the arch-mage SparrowHawk and an evil mage named Cob.

Sadly, I can’t say any more then that or else I’ll probably give away the whole entire movie. What I can say though to any Earthsea Trilogy fan is to NOT see this movie as it is the weirdest and certainly the most bizarre adaptation of the Earthsea Trilogy.

As for any movie goer who wishes to see a fantasy movie and hasn’t read the Earthsea Trilogy, you are most likely going to be as confused as much as an EarthSea Trilogy fan due the continual stuff up of the story line and hidden context which is never explained.

If you’re just looking to waste some time and see a movie, than this is the movie just for you!byailsa leibrieck
